Go Fishing Now In Vermont!
While Vermont may be most recognized as a ski destination, equal to its skiing should also be its standing as a fishing destination.
Lake Champlain leads the names of outstanding fisheries. The largemouth and smallmouth bass fishing in Champlain make it a crown jewel of the State and a top destination in North America.
In addition to Champlain, Vermont is loaded with lakes, reservoirs, rivers, streams and ponds to wet a line. Game fish species include trout, bass, lake trout, perch, salmon, walleye and northern pike.
This photo which helps us all imagine backing the boat down the ramp for an afternoon of Vermont fishing was taken by Marsha Sortino.

3rd Alarm Charters
What do you want to fish for? If it swims in some of New York and Vermont's top waters, there is a good chance 3rd Alarm Charters & Guide Service can put you on it. 3rd Alarm Charters is based out of Florence, Vermont but they seem to spend a lot of time fishing New York waters. The major waters they fish include Lake Champlain, Hudson River, Lake Ontario and Salmon River. They also fish numerous smaller bodies of water for bass and pike in Vermont. Their general schedule on the major waters appears to be Lake Champlain and Lake Ontario May through August; Salmon River September to May; and the Hudson River when the stripers are making their run in May. You will want to contact them for specifics on where they are fishing as this can vary season to season. But like we said, 3rd Alarm Charters is a one stop shop whether you want to fish for striped bass, salmon, trout, northern pike, or largemouth and smallmouth bass. If you go out with 3rd Alarm, please be sure to let us know how you did.
Cloud Nine Charters
Cloud Nine Charters is another one of our juried selection Lake Champlain guides and charters. Unlike the others, Cloud Nine also offers Hudson River Charter for the spectacular May striped bass fishing. Captain Obe White will be your host when fishing with Cloud Nine. Captain White is a third generation Addison County fisherman who has spent his entire life on the waters of Lake Champlain, Otter Creek and Hudson River. He has been a charter Captain on Lake Champlain for nearly 20 years. When fishing Champlain, you will be meeting him at the River's Edge Campground on the Otter Creek in Vergennes, Vermont. While on Lake Champlain from June to October you will be fishing for the Lake's Salmon or Trout. In June, he fishes Otter Creek for perch and walleye. And in May, Captain White is all about the Hudson River Stripers. Captain White also provides free fishing cleaning after your day is done. So if you want to fish Champlain, Otter Creek or Hudson River, visit Cloud Nine Charters and see if they are what you are looking for.
Fish N Rigg Charters
We sometimes get asked why there aren't more listings on our site. And the reason is that it is really hard to get through our juried selection process. We spend hours pouring over all the information we can find about our listings. When reviewing Fish N Rigg Charters, we found a comment about a cancelled trip that we just loved. "...we canceled your trip because the fishing isn't the greatest. If we can't find fish for you and take your money then we think you would also be unsatisfied. This Charter is about catching fish not just cruising around on the lake." That kind of honesty and approach to fishing gets our business. There are no guarantees to fishing and we all know that going into a trip. But there are conditions that decrease the chance of having a successful fishing trip, and guides should know those conditions for their fishery and be honest about it. It seems to us Fish N Rigg Charters has this philosophy for their business, and we applaud that. Specifically, Fish N Rigg spends its days on Lake Champlain fishing for salmon, lake trout and rainbow trout. Captain Bill Gregorek is the owner and operator has 23 years experience fishing the Lake and is a USCG Licensed Captain. He is located at Point Bay Marina in Charlotte, Vermont. Give Captain Bill a call for your next Vermont Champlain trip. Given the reviews and honesty we have seen through our research, we are confident your making a good choice when fishing with Fish N Rigg Charters.

Lake Champlain Angler Fishing Charters
First off, we love the slogan of Lake Champlain Angler Fishing Charters, "Where affordability counts, more is better, and size definitely matters!" We agree, at least when it comes to fishing and from what we can gather, Lake Champlain Angler Fishing Charters can deliver on their slogan by providing great fishing opportunities for both the warmwater and coldwater species that call Lake Champlain home. Captain Mick is the owner and is a US Coast Guard Master Captain. Captain Mick is on the water 7 days a week giving him up to date knowledge of the fish patterns on Champlain. He guides out of Plattsburgh, New York on the western shores of the lake near Grand Isle. Captain Mick can take you fishing for smallmouth bass, northern pike, atlantic salmon, bowfin, brown trout, largemouth bass, lake trout and even walleye. He will troll, cast or jig depending on your preferences. You can book an 8, 6 or 4 hour trip. For their 8 hour trips, they guarantee you will catch fish or your next trip with them is free. If you a large party and need more than one boat, he will be glad to arrange. Lake Champlain is one of the best fisheries in the Northeast. The North Hero House
Lake Champlain is one of the top fishing destinations not just in the Northeast but all of North America. What is really great about this area is that you can come here for fishing only, a fishing and family vacation and even a romantic fishing getaway with the love of your life. While the North Hero House would work for all of these, we think it would be absolutely perfect for that romantic getaway with some fishing included. The North Hero House has been accepting guests since 1891. North Hero has 26 romantic rooms. Additionally, they have a restaurant, two full bars, a sandy beach, and a marina. The Inn sits in North Hero, Vermont and provide bed & breakfast style accommodations. Their marina rents motor boats for fishing. Driftwood Tours run by Captain Holly uses the marina as her home port and can provide you charter fishing on the Lake. There is also a fishing pier for those who prefer to stay on land. We love that North Hero House provides a lot of information about fishing options on their site, making the fisherman and fisherwoman feel welcome staying at their place.
