Go Fishing in Northeastern Ontario Now!

Sign at Lost Lake Wilderness Lodge (300 x 225) Go Fishing in Northeastern Ontario Now!

Northeastern Ontario gets remote very quickly. That remoteness can lead to some amazing fishing and breath taking scenery. Shore lunches are a must during any trip to the wilds of Ontario.

Some of the fish of southeatern Ontario start to fall out of the options. Once north of North Bay on Lake Nipissing, walleye, smallmouth bass, northern pike and trout become the focus.

There aren't quite as many options of lodges as there are in Southeastern Ontario or Western Ontario but there are still plenty of options from housekeeping cottages to american plan with meals to fly in remote trips.

Whatever your choice, this area can provide it. Check out all of our listings and Go Fishing Now in Northeastern Ontario.

Auld Reekie Lodge has been seemingly synonymous with Northeastern Ontario fishing for a long time. Auld Reekie Lodge and Outfitters is located northwest of North Bay, Ontario and southwest of Timmins, Ontario. This puts them and you on your fishing vacation in the Gowganda region of the Province. This region and the Auld Reekie lakes can put you on a variety of fish species including smallmouth bass, northern pike, walleye, perch, brook trout, lake trout, splake and rainbow trout. They offer fishing on both their home lake of Gowganda Lake and numerous other lakes where they have boat caches available. They have numerous boat types for the main lake. They even offer a pontoon boat to rent for fishing Gowganda Lake, which is a unique option in Northeastern Ontario. Fishing guides are available to be hired during your stay. They offer 3 package choices, American Plan, European Plan (which is a modified meal plan) or Housekeeping Plan. Auld Reekie has been a staple of Gowganda and Ontario fishing. Give them a look when you are looking to plan your next fishing vacation.

Camp Anjigami

Camp Anjigami
website | map it | 866-316-8164 | PO BOX 362, Wawa, Ontario  P0S 1K0

Camp Anjigami is based about 30 miles from Wawa in Northeastern Ontario. Lets start with your options of fish species at Camp Anjigami. They have waters that hold northern pike, lake trout, walleye and speckled trout. A cool thing about Anjigami is that you can either go to one of their drive to or fly-in camps. They have both drive-in and fly-in lakes available. They have enough lakes that you can pick based on the species you want to target and the lake characteristics you like to fish. Camp Anjigami is run by Craig and Linda Williams who have owned the camp since 2005. All of the cabins are housekeeping accommodation style. Based on the reviews we have read, we see consistent reports that all cabins, even the fly-in places, are clean and comfortable. Camp Anjigami should be considered a top Northeastern Ontario choice whether you want the adventure of a fly-in or good with a remote drive-in location.

Deluxe Camp

Deluxe Camp
website | map it | 866-424-6343 | 131 Caron Road, Lavigne, Ontario

Lake Nipissing starts the entry into Northeastern Ontario and has a lot of different camps as accommodation options. Deluxe Camp is one of our top picks in Northeastern Ontario and sits on the northwestern part of Lake Nipissing near the town of Lavigne. One of the things that stands out is the diversity of fishing on the Lake. Walleye, smallmouth bass, northern pike and muskie are all popular choice gamefish when fishing the Lake and visiting Deluxe Camp. Deluxe Camp provides housekeeping cabin accommodations including one- two- three- or four-bedroom cottages. The camp sits on sixteen acres and 450 feet of shoreline. They have 16' fishing boats for rent with 25hp motors. Additionally, they have two pontoon boats for rent. They are not far from North Bay and Sudbury if you want some other activities than fishing as options. We read good reviews of Deluxe Camp and recommend that you check them out for your next trip to Lake Nipissing.

Ellen Island Camp

Ellen Island Camp
website | map it | 1-888-679-5145 | Lady Evelyn Lake, Ontario

Ellen Island Camp is a boat-in fishing destination on Lady Evelyn Lake in Northeastern Ontario. The reviews of Ellen Island Camp are consistently really good. Lady Evleyn Lake is a large lake with little pressure as there are only four lodges total on the lake. Ellen Island is quite an affordable fishing destination considering all that they provide. Ellen Island stands out on Lady Evelyn Lake Lake as the only lodge to only offer housekeeping plans. So, you are going to have to prepare your own meals but they are prepared to do everything they can to make your fishing vacation an amazing one. The Lake has walleye, northern pike and smallmouth bass fishing. The lodge also offers a portage for even more smallmouth bass fishing, if you want some variety in your week from Lady Evelyn. There are two choices of accommodations for Lady Evelyn in our juried directory. We rarely put two locations from the same body of water but we love what Lady Evelyn Lake offers in Northeast Ontario. Both places are amazing. One is Housekeeping and the other American Plan. Ellen Island should be your choice if you don't mind or prefer cooking for yourself or need something a bit more affordable than an American Plan offers.

Garden Island Lodge

Garden Island Lodge
website | map it | 705-672-2767 | Lady Evelyn lake, Ontario

If you are anywhere in the Northeast and familiar with Ontario fishing, you have certainly heard of Lady Evelyn Lake. This boat-in destination will have you surrounded by Canadian wilderness and on one of the best walleye destinations in Northeastern Ontario. That is not to mention the smallmouth bass and northern pike fishing on Lady Evelyn. There are only a handful lodges on the lake and by the reviews we have found, Garden Island Lodge is one of the best on Lady Evelyn and in Northeastern Ontario. Garden Island is located on a 12 acre island in the middle of Lady Evelyn. They feature exclusively American Plan lodging packages. They also offer very nice boats and recent model outboards. This is critically important when fishing in remote areas where reducing your risk of outboard problems is very important from a safety perspective. We should mention that there is also lake trout and brook trout fishing in waters surrounding the main lake. Trout fishing can make a great change of pace to fishing the main lake. We recommend that you not hesitate on a fishing trip to Lady Evelyn Lake and Garden Island Lodge.

Glen Echo Cottages

Glen Echo Cottages is located in Callander, Ontario and sits on the eastern shores of Lake Nipissing. They offer 1, 2, 3 & 4 bedroom cabins on the Lake as well as boat rentals for guests. Their packages are housekeeping plan. We are really impressed by their boat rentals. They have a 3 different types of boats for rentals, which provide guests a lot of options. They have 2 Starcraft 160 DLX, which are 16 ft and powered by 50 HP Mercury electric start outboards with tilt and trim. Golden Eagle Camp

Golden Eagle Camp
website | map it | 705-565-2566 | P.O. Box 130, Matachewan, Ontario  P0K1M0

Golden Eagle Camp is a great example of what the new era of social media can provide. The Camp has been on the radar of Go Fishing Now co-founder Chris for a long time. But before the days of Facebook and other review sites, it was hard to judge many camps like Golden Eagle as to what they offered the vacationing fisherman. As we write this, Chris is kicking himself for not pulling the trigger on Golden Eagle Camp in the past. From their reviews online and their Facebook posts, it is clear that Golden Eagle offers a great fishing vacation for anyone interested in traveling to Northeastern Ontario. The Montreal River system on which they sit offers fishing for Northern Pike, Walleye & Smallmouth Bass. The Camp has housekeeping cabins on the River. In addition, you can fish many remote lakes with daily trips. Golden Eagle Camp is a pet friendly lodge in case your favorite fishing partner walks on four legs. Take a look at Golden Eagle as we know Chris already has them on his short-list for his next trip.

Horseshoe Island Camp

Horseshoe Island Camp
website | map it | 705-565-2222 | Matachewan, Ontario

Before doing the juried selection for Go Fishing Now, we thought we knew of all the fishing camps in Northeastern Ontario. Somehow we missed Horseshoe Island Camp in our many years of individual research. We will certainly not be overlooking them any more. Horseshoe Island Camp is located on Mistinikon Lake. And we mean "on" Mistinikon Lake as they are a boat-in Camp with either island or mainland lodging. Lodging accommodations are Housekeeping style with week-long and 3 night packages available. They have 12 cottages available, both 2 and 3 bedrooms. All of the cottages are lakefront. The 100 miles of shoreline offer northern pike, walleye and smallmouth bass fishing. They mention that other lakes in the area are also available, which always intrigues us. Horseshoe Island Camp is the only fishing resort on Lake Mistinikon. So fishing pressure does not seem like it should be an issue. They report that the lake is easily navigable and have 14' and 15' boat options. Horseshoe Island Camp may have not been on our radar in the past, but it most certainly is now. We think it should be on yours as well.

Kesagami Wildenerss Lodge

Kesagami Wildenerss Lodge
website | map it | 1-800-253-FISH | Kesagami Lake, Ontario

Oh Kesagami! Have you read the reports? Have you looked at the pics? Kesagami Lake is the land of huge pike and abundant walleye. Kesagami Wilderness Lodge is the place of expert guides, delicious meals and boats perfectly suited for the lake. Put a great lodge on a great body of water and you have a world class destination in Northeastern Ontario. Kesagami Wilderness Lodge is fly-in fishing only with American Plan accommodations. Kesagami Wilderness Lodge has always been on the forefront of conservation knowing the invaluable resource they have. I remember reading about their use of fish cradles for trophy pike long before everyone was talking about fish cradles. Kesagami Wilderness Lodge sits north of its air base in Cochrane, Ontario. You can stay in their main lodge or one of their cabins. We have been told the food is amazing and the servings will not leave you feeling hungry. They offer anywhere from 3 to 7 day packages. Packages include all meals, accommodations, boat/motor/gas, daily housekeeping, all linens and bedding. Guide service is available through the lodge. Everyone should make it a point to one time in their life experience the incredible fishery of Kesagami Lake and the equally incredible accommodations at Kesagami Wilderness Lodge.

Lost Lake Wilderness Lodge

Lost Lake Wilderness Lodge
website | map it | 1-888-279-9977 | Hwy. 560 West, Elk Lake, Ontario  P0J 1G0

Chris, here at Go Fishing Now, was at Lost Lake Wilderness Lodge many years ago to take his oldest son, Austin, on his first Canadian fishing trip. A lot has changed about Lost Lake since Austin and Chris vacationed there, and from what we have found, all for the better. The trip was great back then under the previous ownership and the new ownership has continued that dedication to Lost Lake customers by enhancing services provided by the Lodge. Lost Lake Wilderness Lodge is located in Northeastern Ontario near Elk Lake. The Lodge has access to 9 lakes. A few of these lakes are only available through portaging. The Lodge has both American Plan and Housekeeping Plan packages. The food was delicious 10 years ago, under the American Plan, and the reviews indicate it is just as good now. Fishing is for Northern Pike, Smallmouth Bass, Walleye, Brook Trout and Rainbow Trout. We should note that Lost Lake takes pride in its conservation efforts. They know the importance of preserving their lakes for future generations. So please don't go there expecting to keep everything you catch. That doesn't mean you can't keep a few to eat but it is important to join them in their conservation efforts to maintain this slice of heaven that they fish.
